The Huangmaohai Sea-Crossing Passage, a crown jewel of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), has clinched the prestigious 2025 George S. Richardson Medal at the International Bridge Conference (IBC).

Known as the ‘Nobel Prize of Bridges,’ the IBC awards celebrate top global achievements in bridge engineering. The Richardson Medal, the oldest and most coveted of the six IBC honors, spotlights outstanding innovation in design, construction, and research.

Stretching 31km—with 14.5km soaring over the sea—the Huangmaohai Passage extends the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge westward. Its sleek, aerodynamic design frames breathtaking views of rolling hills, winding waterways, and vibrant fish ponds, blending engineering prowess with natural beauty.

More than a marvel of steel and concrete, the bridge supercharges regional connectivity, forging a vital artery between western Guangdong and the GBA’s economic powerhouses—fueling integration and turbocharging growth across the mega-cluster.
