Hong Kong’s swimming star Siobhan Haughey dazzled at the opening leg of the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour in Monaco, securing her second gold in two days with a triumphant victory in the 100m freestyle on May 18, 2025.
Haughey surged to the wall in 53.58 seconds, edging out world relay champion Milou van Wijk of the Netherlands (53.76), while Italy’s Sara Curtis took bronze (54.69).
The win builds on her dominant performance in the 200m freestyle—her signature event—just a day earlier. Though her 100m time trailed her personal best (52.33, set during her Olympic bronze-winning campaign in Paris), Monaco marked a strong return to international racing after a four-month break.
The tour now heads to Barcelona (May 21), where Haughey will race the 100m again, followed by the 200m on May 22, before concluding in Canet-en-Roussillon.
