[China Travelogue] Art Meets City Life: Changchun’s Sculptures Series
: :

Changchun World Sculpture Park’s latest series, “Sculpture Without Bounds, Youth Without Limits,” has been drawing locals and visitors into a lively weekend of art, culture and hands-on fun. The program stitches museum displays, workshops, performances and a market into one roaming celebration.

Inside the Changchun Sculpture Museum, a clutch of young artists shows work in metal, stone and clay — each material lending a different tone, from the chill of steel to the warm tactility of fired earth. Nearby, the ceramics studio invites amateurs to try their hand at molding clay under pro guidance, turning spectators into makers in real time.

A sculpture-inspired market lets designers translate three-dimensional ideas into everyday objects, while interactive performances physically reinterpret classic works. Performers echo poses and emotions to unlock the cultural symbols behind each piece, prompting fresh conversations between past and present.

Altogether, the series reframes public sculpture as something to be touched, talked about and lived with — a reminder that art can be both a meeting place and a mirror for city life.
