A special exhibition showcasing treasures from China’s Palace Museum has opened in Vienna, marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Austria. Jointly organised by the Palace Museum and the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Art and Aesthetics from China’s Forbidden City presents 76 exceptional works that illuminate the artistry and refined court life of 18th-century China. The exhibition adopts an integrated curatorial approach, allowing visitors to explore the period’s aesthetics through a unified narrative. Many of the pieces are being displayed in Europe for the first time, adding to the event’s significance. Austrian organisers described the exhibition as an important cultural moment, offering the public a rare opportunity to encounter the dialogue and shared resonance between Chinese and European civilisations.
