Lynx and moose have been sighted roaming the snow-covered forests of the Greater Khingan Mountains in northeast China, offering a rare glimpse of the region’s thriving winter wildlife. The scenes were filmed by a group of photographers travelling through the Nanweng River National Nature Reserve in Heilongjiang.
Among the encounters was a solitary lynx moving confidently through the frosted landscape, pausing to observe its surroundings with sharp attention. Roughly a kilometre away, several moose, including a female and her calf, made their way through the woods, their steady movements adding a sense of calm grandeur to the wintry scene.
The sightings highlight the ecological richness of the Greater Khingan area, where pristine habitats continue to support some of China’s most iconic and elusive species.
