[Cultural China] Lantern Festival Brings Joy and Colour Across China
: :

Across China, communities lit up the streets with joy and colour to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month. Festivities showcased a rich tapestry of traditional culture, from dragon and lion dances to stilt walking, martial arts, and Yangge folk performances, delighting audiences with vibrant music and movement.

Families and neighbours gathered to make tangyuan, glutinous rice balls filled with sweet treats, and other festive delicacies, sharing the warmth and sweetness of the season. Lantern displays, riddles, and exhibitions brought towns and cities alive, with themed lanterns and decorative lights illuminating historic streets and scenic landscapes.

From bustling city squares to ancient towns and mountain villages, the festival fostered community spirit and celebrated the beauty of China’s intangible cultural heritage, as people embraced the joy, colour, and traditions that make this festival a cherished part of the lunar calendar.
