Kapok, the tropical flower that is the official flower of Guangzhou in southern China, is now appearing not only across the city but also on the dinner table.
A local restaurant has launched a kapok-themed banquet with 17 dishes, including six starters, one soup, eight main dishes, and two dim sum items. Every dish incorporates the flower. Even the dough is made with kapok-infused water, giving the food a light floral fragrance.
Starting this month, eight core outlets of the restaurant brand in Guangzhou are serving the full banquet. Six featured dishes will also be added to seasonal menus at all of its locations across the city.
