[Inno&Tech] China’s Green Vehicles Power Up Cambodia‘s EV Ecosystem

China's electric vehicle giant BYD is shifting into high gear across Southeast Asia, planting its flag in Cambodia with a strategic new factory. This marks BYD's second Southeast Asian production base after launching its Thailand mega-plant last July, as the automaker sharing the region's booming EV market.

The 120,000-square-meter facility in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone will spark to life by year's end, adding 10,000 vehicles annually to BYD's growing regional output. But the company isn't just building cars—it's powering up Cambodia's entire EV ecosystem with plans to deploy charging infrastructure nationwide, making electric mobility more accessible than ever.

Fresh off dethroning Tesla as the world's top pure EV maker (producing 1.78 million battery-electric vehicles last year), BYD shows no signs of slowing down. With 4.27 million total vehicle sales across its electric and hybrid lines in 2023, the automaker now has its sights set on a staggering 5.5 million unit target for 2025. This Cambodian expansion proves BYD isn't just leading the EV revolution—it's writing the playbook for global clean transportation.
