According to the latest data from China's National Energy Administration (NEA), the country's renewable energy capacity continues to expand steadily, reinforcing renewables as a dominant force in the national power mix. By the end of June, cumulative renewable capacity reached 2,455 GW, accounting for roughly 60% of China's total installed capacity.

Wind and solar PV capacity stood at 1,951 GW, nearly half of the national total. Notably, solar PV capacity alone reached 1,274 GW, nearly matching coal-fired power capacity—a clear sign that renewable energy have entered a new era of parity.

On the generation side, renewables produced nearly 2 trillion kWh in the first half of the year, accounting for 41.2% of total electricity generation and surpassing 40% for the first time. Wind and solar together generated 1.25 trillion kWh, meaning that one in every four kilowatt-hours consumed came from these sources. The increase in renewable generation met 61.9% of the growth in overall electricity demand, cementing green power as a key driver of electricity consumption in China.

Furthermore, the recently released "15th Five-Year Plan for New Power System Construction" sets a target of initially completing a new-type power grid by 2030, capable of integrating more than 2,800 GW of new energy capacity with high efficiency and supporting the needs of over 110 million electric vehicles. The plan marks a significant acceleration in China's green and low-carbon energy transition.
