China plans to build more than 3,000 charging and battery-swapping stations for electric heavy-duty trucks by 2030, supporting the country's accelerating shift towards cleaner freight transport.

The move comes as demand for new energy heavy-duty trucks continues to grow, with sales surging 182 percent in 2025. By 2030, new energy models are expected to account for 40 percent of heavy-duty trucks in operation, surpassing 1.6 million vehicles.

The planned facilities will be developed along major national expressways and provincial highways, as well as across key economic regions including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone.

The network will also extend to freight hubs, ports, mining areas, factories and industrial parks, helping create a more efficient and connected charging and swapping system for electric freight vehicles nationwide.
