As dusk falls and the lights along both banks awaken, Shantang River transforms into a flowing poem, becoming one of Suzhou’s most enchanting night scenes. Walkers and sightseers find the river a quietly dramatic chapter of the city after dark.

The riverside facade lighting is currently trialing a new time-segmented, progressive mode. Scientific adjustments to timing and intensity aim to give residents and visitors a more immersive taste of "Night Gusu."

Unlike the old routine, which focused mainly on the season, city image, night economy, and energy saving, the upgrade retains the daily switch-on and adds two additional off-and-on ceremonies to enrich the visual experience.
