[China Travelogue] Yangzhou's Golden Autumn: A Poetic Escape
: :

During this year's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Yangzhou — known for its stunning autumn landscapes — emerged as a top travel destination. With over 2,500 years of history, this cultural gem is dotted with classical gardens, ancient temples, and historic pagodas. Its beauty has been immortalized in poetry by renowned writers throughout the dynasties, capturing the imagination of travelers from all over the country.

In recent years, Yangzhou has developed new themed tours highlighting seasonal foliage, moon gazing, and poetic culture to cater to growing visitor interest. At the Slender West Lake, tourists retrace the steps of ancient poets, while others take to the water on pleasure boats to admire the moon above the Twenty-Four Bridges, remarking that the real-life views surpass even the most eloquent verses.

The moon-worship ceremony held by the millennia-old Daming Temple on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival proved especially popular, with tickets selling out quickly. Similarly, the moon-viewing event along the Grand Canal at Zhenguo Temple has already seen over a dozen boats reserved, as travelers eagerly anticipate this unique nocturnal experience.
