[China Travelogue] Fresh Snow Reveals China’s Early-Winter Wonders
: :

As early winter settles across China, striking seasonal scenes are emerging from the Tianshan and Qinba mountains to the country’s northernmost Arctic Village.

In Xinjiang’s Fukang City, the Tianshan Tianchi (Heavenly Lake) Scenic Area has transformed after fresh snowfall and clear skies revealed Bodga Peak rising above dark spruce forests. The calm lake surface reflected the snow-covered slopes, creating a landscape reminiscent of a traditional Chinese painting.

In Shaanxi Province, Nangong Mountain in Ankang saw its first snowfall of the season on November 17. The Qinba range turned white overnight, with rime coating the trees and light mist hanging over the ridges. The area, part of the Daba Mountains, is known for Jinding Peak and its twin summits, often compared to a classic calligraphy brush rack.

Further north, Mohe’s Arctic Village in Heilongjiang offered a rare nighttime sight: vertical light pillars formed by ice crystals reflecting strong artificial lights in sub-minus-20°C temperatures, drawing residents and visitors outdoors to watch the display.
