A Sino-French exhibition exploring the enduring cultural bond between people and horses has opened at Prince Kung’s Palace Museum in Beijing, bringing together more than 200 equine-related artefacts and works of art.

“Riding into Reflection: A Sino-French Exhibition on Equine Culture” is co-curated by Prince Kung’s Palace Museum and the Château de Chantilly in France, with a focus on the dialogue between Chinese and French equine traditions in the 19th century. The exhibition traces the evolution of equine culture, from ancient Chinese mounted archery and Qing dynasty riding traditions to European equestrian culture and modern horse racing.

Featuring more than 60 artefacts from the Château de Chantilly alongside loans from Chinese museums, the exhibition is divided into three sections: “Tracing the Origins”, “Riding the Wind” and “Unbridled Imagination”.

Running until 29 November, the exhibition will move to Tai Kwun in Hong Kong from late December to January 2027.
