Hong Kong’s film industry is stepping up its international presence at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), with a delegation led by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) seeking new overseas opportunities.
Three Hong Kong films are featured at this year’s festival, including “We Are Born Good”, which had its world premiere on September 13 as part of TIFF’s Discovery programme. The film was developed through the eighth First Feature Film Initiative (FFFI), which has helped more than 30 emerging directors complete their debut features. Their films have collectively won more than 120 awards at festivals in Hong Kong and overseas.
CCIDA and the Hong Kong Film Development Council also hosted a Hong Kong Night reception, drawing nearly 400 filmmakers and cultural industry professionals from around the world.
During the festival, the delegation met international film organisations and festival representatives to explore future collaboration and new opportunities for Hong Kong filmmakers.
