A No. 5 alarm fire, the highest level in Hong Kong, broke out at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po District yesterday (November 26), leaving widespread damage and significant casualties. As of today (November 27), the blaze has yet to be fully brought under control. Despite the devastation, local residents and volunteers have rallied to support those affected, helping organise relief supplies, providing temporary shelter, and comforting victims.
In response to the disaster, numerous organisations, foundations, and businesses have pledged emergency aid, including financial contributions, essential supplies, and logistical support to assist residents with temporary housing, basic living needs, and ongoing recovery. Volunteers from Shenzhen have also delivered thousands of thermal blankets to temporary shelters, embodying the spirit of “help comes from all directions”.
Authorities and community groups continue to coordinate resources and monitor the situation, while relief funds have been established to provide urgent assistance to affected families. The collective effort underscores the strength of community and cross-border support in ensuring the safety, recovery, and well-being of those impacted by this devastating fire.
