Apple CEO Tim Cook kicked off his recent trip to China with a visit to Pop Mart’s THE MONSTERS 10th anniversary exhibition in Shanghai last week. The stop drew buzz from both tech and pop culture circles as Cook joined Pop Mart founder Wang Ning and artist Kasing Lung – the creator of the beloved character Labubu – for a special tour of the exhibition.

Lung gave a live demonstration of creating Labubu illustrations on an iPad Pro, while Wang surprised Cook with a custom Labubu figurine holding an iPhone. The visit coincided with Cook’s participation in a livestream event announcing the latest updates on iPhone Air sales in China, due in-part to the country’s recent adoption of eSIM technology.

Celebrating a decade of Labubu, the exhibition showcases original sketches and collectibles from THE MONSTERS series. Following its Shanghai debut, the global tour will continue to Beijing, Tokyo, Paris, New York, and beyond.
