The Liuyang River in central China’s Hunan Province sparkled under a spectacular blaze of colour as the 17th Liuyang Fireworks Cultural Festival lit up the night sky on October 24.

The two-day celebration featured the 6th Liuyang Fireworks Competition, where six elite teams from the United States, Japan, Hungary, Belgium, Sweden, and Slovenia showcased dazzling pyrotechnic artistry.

Famed as the “Hometown of Fireworks in China”, Liuyang City is home to 431 manufacturers that produce nearly 70 percent of China’s fireworks exports. Collaborating closely with local experts, the international teams crafted displays that embodied the festival’s theme of “harmony in diversity”.

“The festival is fantastic and very famous in the world,” said Ferenc Toth from Hungary’s Nuvu Kft. Christophe Byl of Belgium’s CBF Pyrotechnics added, “This is the place to be for fireworks… the possibilities are incredible.”

The festival also fostered global friendships, uniting creativity, culture, and passion in a shared spectacle of light.
