A third-generation giant snowman named Laibao has debuted in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in northeast China, quickly sparking a citywide photo craze. The main figure stands 16 metres tall and is surrounded by 34 smaller snowmen, drawing visitors who line up to snap photos.
The design features a lively orange-and-white colour palette and smooth, rounded contours that deliberately break from the traditional snowman stereotype. Laibao’s heart-holding pose aims to convey warmth and inclusiveness, while the modern, international visual language reflects the city’s fashionable temperament and open spirit.
Alongside the main installation, a rose-themed frozen wall has also become a popular backdrop. Bright roses encased in clear ice create a striking contrast, and crowds gather there to capture the scene as well. Together, the snow sculptures and ice-flower displays have turned the plaza into a seasonal magnet for both locals and visitors.
