This autumn, the stunning terraced fields in Tai'an Town, Wanzhou District of Chongqing, are adorned with golden ripening rice, creating a scene reminiscent of nature’s own musical score. Farmers, smiling under the fair weather, are busy harvesting—some with traditional tools, others with modern machinery weaving through the waves of grain.
Dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), the Tai'an Terraces boast an impressive 1,133 layers and cover 15,000 mu (about 1,000 hectares). Recognized as one of China’s top ten terraced landscapes, it also holds the title “China’s Beautiful Farmland.”
In recent years, Tai'an has embraced agricultural modernization, boosting grain output while leveraging its scenic harvest views to develop rural tourism. This dual approach not only sustains growth but also injects new vitality into the local economy, beautifully merging tradition with progress.
