The hills are ablaze once again with the crimson of ripe persimmons. In Jingshan Village of Shaoxing, over 2,000 persimmon trees stand heavy with fruit—a sea of glowing lanterns that paint the landscape with festive warmth and bounty. This captivating autumn spectacle continues to draw visitors from across the country.
The village and surrounding hillsides, blanketed in scarlet persimmons, resemble a fairy-tale world. Visitors take in panoramic views from observation decks, wander leisurely along mountain trails, pose for photos beneath the laden branches, and browse through freshly picked persimmons. Many praise the trip as a perfect blend of breathtaking scenery and delicious, juicy fruit.
Villagers explain that the region’s unique microclimate gives Jingshan persimmons their distinctive sweetness and juiciness, making them nationally renowned. In recent years, the village has developed persimmon orchards, viewing platforms, and walking paths, while launching an annual Persimmon Festival to promote agricultural tourism. During the harvest season—from late September to mid-November—daily visitors average 2,000 to 3,000, peaking at a record 15,000 in a single day, significantly boosting local incomes.
