[China Travelogue] Snowy Fenhe Park Welcomes Graceful Winter Waterbirds
: :

A recent heavy snowfall in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, has transformed Fenhe Wetland Park into a picturesque winter landscape. Against the snowy backdrop, flocks of egrets glide gracefully over the unfrozen waters—some dancing lightly, some foraging, and others resting along the banks—creating a scene full of life and charm. Waterbirds such as coots and night herons also join in, hunting along the river and drawing many residents to enjoy this vibrant spectacle.

Locals remarked that with much of the river frozen, the concentration of birds in the remaining open stretches is a rare and delightful sight. Despite the crowds, observers remained quiet and respectful, careful not to disturb the birds with noise. Many captured the serene beauty on their phones and cameras, preserving moments of harmony between humans and nature.

The steadily improving ecology has brought people and wildlife closer together. Residents note that growing public awareness in recent years has deepened understanding and strengthened the protection of wild animals. They welcome even more migratory birds to find a home in the city’s wetland parks.
