The 2026 Dianchi International Coffee Carnival has recently opened along the shores of Dianchi Lake in Kunming, southwest China, filling the mild 22°C summer air with rich coffee aromas.

The event brings together 200 specialty coffee trucks from across the country. A vendor from Qiandongnan, Guizhou Province, stands out by serving coffee in an elaborate traditional Miao ethnic costume adorned with shimmering silver ornaments. A booth from Shunde, Guangdong, offers a creative fusion drink blending silky local double-skin milk with bold coffee, drawing crowds of curious visitors.

More than 300 themed activities and 200 live music performances are being held during the carnival, bringing together coffee, music, sports, ecology, film, ethnic culture and urban leisure. Launched in 2024, the annual carnival deepens the integration of coffee culture and Dianchi lakefront tourism, using coffee as a medium to boost Kunming’s reputation as a charming lakeside tourism destination.
