Nanjing in eastern China has welcomed the early spring rains. Despite the lingering chill, the cherry blossoms at the Zhongshan Botanical Garden are already in full, defiant bloom.
Along Cherry Blossom Avenue, nearly 200 trees stand by the water, their branches heavy with clusters of petals in shades of soft pink and rosy red—a breathtaking tapestry of colour. A gentle breeze sets the flowers trembling, their reflections shimmering on the lake's surface like a living oil painting. These are Prunus ‘Okame,’ also known as “First Beauty”—among the earliest heralds of spring. Now at 70% bloom, the avenue is at its absolute peak.
Visitors brave the drizzle, finding a unique charm in the rain-kissed blossoms. Each glistening droplet adds a delicate touch, while the moist air carries the faint, sweet scent of cherry blossoms—pure refreshment for the soul. Come and answer the call of this romantic early spring!
