As the weather warms, flower-viewing season is in full swing. In Shijiazhuang, a city in northern China, large stretches of Chinese wild peach trees have bloomed, providing locals and tourists with a lovely setting to enjoy nature and welcome spring.
A native plant of northern China, the Chinese wild peach is one of the earliest spring-blooming trees. It does not bear sweet fruit like cultivated peaches, but it is among the first plants to signal that all living things are awakening. Together with winter jasmine, it marks the beginning of the spring blooming season.
The mountain peach blooms early. Its flowers are radially symmetrical with single petals. The buds are pink, and the color gradually lightens as the petals open. The tree flowers before its leaves emerge, with foliage appearing only after the blossoms.
