Colorful murals that blend scenes of athletes with Cantonese culture now wrap the outer columns of Tianhe Sports Center. From sprightly sporting poses to Cantonese dim sum and local sayings, the youth-painted images weave the 15th National Games into Guangzhou’s everyday life.

The project covers 120 pillars and features 13 themed graphics. Artists drew on local language, cuisine, cultural motifs, buildings and graphic symbols, and also included emblems and mascots from past sports events held at Tianhe Sports Center, creating a public gallery that locals can pass by and enjoy.

Because Guangzhou is hot and humid, the works use a high-performance coating system that is waterproof, mold-resistant, stain-repellent, self-cleaning and colorfast, ensuring the paintings stay bright and fresh through the seasons.
