What a majestic scene! A gigantic fish floating in the air, with a dragon's head and a fish's body, drifted through the stadium at the 15th National Games' opening in China's Greater Bay Area.
This soaring creature is inspired by Guangdong’s 600-year-old Ao Yu fish dance, an intangible cultural heritage. Blending a dragon’s majesty with a fish’s nimbleness, the Ao Yu symbolizes peace and often adorns Lingnan architecture.
A carefully balanced mix of helium and air allows the giant lantern to float steadily. With controlled buoyancy and rigging, it soars, dips, and turns—melding tradition and technology in a stunning aerial dance.
