Following the start of the Spring Festival on February 17, communities across China have celebrated with vibrant performances highlighting the nation’s intangible cultural heritage.

In Wuyuan County, east China’s Jiangxi Province, visitors enjoyed a glowing bench dragon dance, carp lantern parades, molten iron flower shows, and fireworks. “I didn’t expect to see so many intangible cultural heritage performances… The Spring Festival atmosphere is really great,” said tourist Tian Kexin.

Further east in Pinghu, Zhejiang Province, a spectacular drone show lit up Donghu Lake, with 700 drones forming shifting images in the night sky. North of Shanghai in Taixing, Jiangsu Province, locals staged traditional fishing dances, with fish caught later enjoyed as food. Children also learned to craft sugar figurines and paintings under heritage inheritors’ guidance, capturing the joyful spirit of the New Year.
