The 7th International Tea Day, designated by the United Nations, was recently celebrated. Guangzhou hosted a charitable tea-serving event where locals enjoyed rich tea culture while strolling along the lakeside.

Under the guidance of instructors, participants took turns trying Hakka pounded tea, a treasured form of intangible cultural heritage. Fresh perilla leaves, mint leaves, sesame seeds, peanuts, and toasted rice were ground into a smooth paste before being mixed with water to create the drink, offering visitors a fun and wholesome experience. In addition to pounded tea, attendees could also explore flower arrangement, Cantonese embroidery, and Gambiered Canton Gauze. Pu'er coffee-flavored ice cream was another popular treat at the event.

This year’s main venue for International Tea Day was located in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, under the theme of exploring how artificial intelligence can support the development of the tea industry. A special forum was also held in Guangzhou, bringing together professionals and scholars from the tea sector to discuss related topics.
