[Cultural China] Kneading Heritage: Kids Bake Water Village Traditions
: :

This summer, Zhongshan's children became time travelers—baking history into being at a 'Hands-On Heritage' workshop. A nationally recognized inheritor guided them through recreating Minzhong Water Village's ceremonial pastries, their small hands kneading dough like edible archaeology.

As kids nibbled samples, the master revealed secrets behind these Ming Dynasty-originated treats—edible artifacts that have sweetened Cantonese weddings and birthdays for centuries. Laughter filled the air as butter cookies took shape, proving even kitchen newbies could master this living heritage.

Organizers watched flour-dusted children become instant culture bearers, their sticky fingers preserving what textbooks can't teach. More than a cooking class—it's tradition passed through fingertips, ensuring these edible heirlooms rise for generations to come.
