[Global Connect] Heatwaves Drive Surge in Chinese Air Conditioner Exports
: :

Chinese home appliance makers are expanding their presence in Europe as rising temperatures fuel demand for cooling solutions. Companies in Foshan, Guangdong Province, have developed easy-to-install split air conditioners designed to meet European market needs, where traditional units often face challenges due to strict building regulations, high labour costs and limited installation services.

Europe’s household air conditioner ownership remains relatively low at around 20 percent, creating opportunities for innovative products. Foshan manufacturers have introduced lightweight, low-noise models that require no complex installation, offering a more affordable alternative to conventional systems.

The products have gained strong market traction, with sales increasing significantly this year. Supported by years of technological development, manufacturers have improved compressor design and reduced noise levels while keeping units portable.

As overseas heatwaves continue to drive demand, Foshan’s home appliance exports are also benefiting from improved logistics services. Local customs measures and Greater Bay Area transport links have helped streamline shipments, supporting the global expansion of Chinese brands.
