Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport recorded a record 850,000 entries and exits by foreign nationals from APEC member economies in the first seven months of 2026, a 32 percent year-on-year increase, as the city prepares to host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

Overall, 1.1 million foreign nationals from 190 countries and regions passed through the airport during the period. Rising international travel, supported by China’s expanding visa-free policies, has helped sustain strong passenger traffic.

To meet growing demand, the airport has expanded routes to Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia, with more than 300 weekly flights planned to APEC member economies.

Border authorities have also introduced zoned inspections, multilingual online entry cards and smart translation devices to make clearance faster and more convenient for international travellers.
