[Global Connect] Belt and Road Green Innovation Conference Debuts in Hong Kong
: :

Hong Kong hosted the Belt and Road Green Innovation Conference for the first time on October 26, bringing together more than 400 government officials, business leaders and experts from 17 Belt and Road countries and around 40 mainland Chinese cities and provinces to explore ways to advance the green transition across the Global South.

The conference focused on how green finance, innovative technologies and international co-operation can support sustainable development. Representatives from countries including Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Egypt exchanged views on shared environmental challenges and opportunities for collaboration.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said the city could support Belt and Road partners with financial, project management and risk management services for green infrastructure projects. Environment Minister Huang Runqiu called for closer co-operation on green innovation, financing and low-carbon development.

The event coincided with the opening of Eco Expo Asia, running until October 29 at AsiaWorld-Expo, showcasing green technologies and providing another platform for international exchange and commercial partnerships.
