Shenzhen is strengthening two-way trade and investment ties with APEC economies as the southern Chinese megacity prepares to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November.
Yantian Port, one of China's major global trade gateways, now operates around 100 international routes each week, connecting with 53 APEC economies. Eleven new APEC routes have been added this year, further enhancing Shenzhen's role as a regional trade hub. From January to May, trade between the Chinese mainland and other APEC economies through the port reached nearly 400 billion yuan (around 59 billion U.S. dollars), accounting for half of its foreign trade.
Beyond trade, Shenzhen is also attracting investment and supporting high-tech industries serving Asia-Pacific markets. In the first half of the year, the city's actual use of foreign investment rose by more than half year on year, with APEC economies accounting for over 90 percent.
As the APEC meeting approaches, Shenzhen is showcasing its growing role as a dynamic bridge between China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
