Three Hong Kong performance programmes have brought the city’s distinctive blend of Eastern and Western influences to international audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026.

Supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London, the programmes featured a cappella theatre, Cantonese opera and contemporary dance, offering audiences a glimpse into the diversity of Hong Kong’s performing arts scene. The performances took place on August 13 and 14.

London ETO Director-General Fiona Chau said Hong Kong’s cultural environment, where different traditions and ideas meet, has helped shape artists who can innovate while staying rooted in their cultural identity.

She said the ETO was pleased to support Hong Kong artists at the Fringe, describing international cultural exchange as an important part of the city’s creative development.

Looking ahead, Chau also highlighted the second Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo, themed “Passion in Motion”, which will take place in October and bring together performing arts professionals from around the world.
