[Green Highlights] China’s Wind and Solar Capacity Surpasses 2 Billion Kilowatts
: :

China’s combined installed wind and solar power capacity reached 2 billion kilowatts at the end of September, marking a new milestone in the country’s renewable energy expansion.

Solar power capacity stood at 1.3 billion kilowatts, up 16.5 percent from last year, while wind power capacity rose 20.4 percent to 700 million kilowatts.

The growth reflects the expanding role of renewables in China’s power mix, alongside the development of related industries, including new energy equipment manufacturing, materials research and intelligent operations and maintenance.

The expansion covers a broad range of projects, from large-scale wind and solar farms to smaller distributed installations, as well as onshore and offshore wind developments.

Investment has continued to support this growth. Wind and solar projects accounted for one-third of China’s energy sector investment in the first nine months of 2026, according to the National Energy Administration, underscoring their importance in the country’s ongoing energy transition.
