[Tech Trends] Inner Mongolia Strengthens Computing Sector with Major Data Hub
: :

North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is strengthening its computing-power sector, with 20 of China’s 30 leading private computing companies now established in the region.

Hohhot, the regional capital, is accelerating construction of a major data centre cluster in the Horinger New Area, which has become a key hub for the country’s computing infrastructure. Four data centre buildings are already operational, providing AI computing services to leading domestic internet companies. Once fully completed, the cluster will have a total computing capacity of 230 megawatts.

The area’s cool climate, with an average annual temperature of 7.7 degrees Celsius, allows natural cooling for up to six months a year, helping reduce energy costs. Green power accounts for about 80 percent of the cluster’s electricity consumption.

Home to 62 computing centre projects, the area has developed an industrial chain spanning server manufacturing, computing services and application development, serving demand from major economic regions across China.

The development supports the national East Data, West Computing strategy, which connects computing resources in inland regions with data demand from the east.
