[Tech Trends] Shenzhen’s Robot Industry Drives New Rental and Customisation Services

Shenzhen is seeing new business opportunities emerge as its robotics industry moves towards wider commercial use, with rental, customisation and component supply services gaining traction.

At the AI Services Street in Longgang District, the city’s first dedicated hub for AI services, visitors have been flocking to explore robotic products and services since it opened in early September.

Robot rentals are proving particularly popular. The Shenzhen Robot 6S Store offers more than 100 types of humanoid and specialised robots, including robot dogs, cleaning machines and healthcare assistants. Renting a robot dog starts at just 1,000 yuan (150 U.S. dollars).

The street also brings together suppliers of key robot components, including sensors, motors and controllers, making it easier for businesses to source parts.

Meanwhile, customisation services allow customers to turn their own designs into physical products. One manufacturer reported a fivefold increase in orders this year compared with 2025, with some customised components now taking just three to four months to produce, down from six to eight months.
