[China Thrills] Giant Pandas Welcome New Year with Festive Feast

Giant panda brothers Gong Gong and Shun Shun welcomed the New Year with a festive feast at southern China’s Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park in Haikou, delighting visitors who gathered to share the joyful moment.

To mark New Year’s Day, animal keepers prepared a special spread of carrots, grapes, traditional Chinese wotou and plenty of fresh bamboo. The pandas tucked into the carefully arranged meal, while tourists watched on and captured the heartwarming scene on their cameras.

Born just over a week apart in August 2013 at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, Gong Gong and Shun Shun share the same father, the well-known round faced panda Lu Lu, but have different mothers.

Their shared lineage, lively personalities and close bond continue to make them favourites among panda lovers, adding a touch of warmth and cheer to the New Year celebrations.
