A rare Eurasian lynx has been captured on camera roaming the snow-covered forests of Ergun in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, offering encouraging signs of ecological recovery.
The photographs show the nationally protected wild cat moving calmly through the winter landscape, its thick silver-grey coat and distinctive tufted ears blending seamlessly with the snowy surroundings. Renowned for its patience and agility, the lynx was seen lying in wait before relying on sharp claws and swift bursts of speed to hunt.
As a key predator in the local food chain, the lynx plays an important role in regulating rodent populations and maintaining ecological balance. Its repeated appearances in Ergun underscore the effectiveness of long-term habitat protection and biodiversity conservation efforts in the region.
