China’s week-long National Day holiday has got off to a lively start, with visitors exploring heritage sites, joining traditional celebrations and taking scenic river cruises across the country.
At the Chengde Mountain Resort in north China’s Hebei Province, tourists are enjoying the autumn scenery while discovering the history of the UNESCO World Heritage site. The resort has also introduced cultural performances, immersive programmes and themed tours for the holiday period.
In southwest China’s Yunnan Province, the traditional Munao Zongge dance brought residents and visitors together in Lianghe County. Dancers in colourful traditional dress led people in a lively circular procession, showcasing the Jingpo people’s rich cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, the Yangtze River in Chongqing has seen a surge in passenger traffic, with tourists taking boats to admire the dramatic scenery of the Three Gorges. A total of 162 passenger ships are operating in the area, with passenger numbers expected to exceed 600,000 during the holiday.
