Dunhuang City in northwest China’s Gansu Province has launched its 2025–2026 winter–spring off-peak tourism programme, offering half-price entry to many of its most famous scenic spots. From December through March, visitors can enjoy discounted admission to the Mogao Grottoes, Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring, Yadan National Geologic Park, and the historic Yangguan and Yumen passes.
Travellers are already taking advantage of the lower prices at Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. “We came because of the half-price tickets,” said Ling Guoqi from Guangdong. Another visitor, Liu Peng from Jiangxi, added that the landscape was “truly breathtaking”.
Students and seniors will receive additional concessions, while people aged 70 and above, along with veterans and police officers, can enter for free. The Mogao Grottoes have also expanded access, increasing the number of open caves from eight to ten, with extra areas available to educational groups led by experienced guides.
