[China Travelogue] Guangdong Hot Springs Draw Tourists Through Winter
: :

South China’s Guangdong Province is drawing growing numbers of winter travellers from around the world, thanks to its mild climate and an expanding range of tourism experiences.

Among the biggest seasonal draws are Guangdong’s hot springs. In Conghua District, just an hour’s drive from downtown Guangzhou, visitors are soaking in the area’s famed “rare hot springs”, naturally rich in radon and long valued for their perceived health benefits. For many, the warm, mineral-rich waters offer a relaxing retreat from colder winter weather elsewhere.

“The air is clear, the water is nice,” said tourist Mrs Ye, adding that it “feels like Southeast Asia”.

That influence is reflected throughout the resort, from attentive service to Northern Thai-style architecture, with bespoke decorations imported directly from Thailand.

With the Spring Festival holiday approaching on February 17, 2026, the resort is preparing for a surge in visitors, as Guangdong continues to position itself as a popular winter escape.
