[China Travelogue] China’s Winter Magic: Ice, Snow, and Endless Adventure
: :

China’s winter destinations are turning ice and snow into unforgettable experiences. At Jiuru Mountain Scenic Area in east China’s Shandong, towering icefalls and 30,000 square metres of sparkling icicles create a frozen wonderland. Visitors can warm up at more than 100 stoves and log cabins, while enjoying ice sledding, snow tubing, or crafting sachets and chocolates – fun for families and thrill-seekers alike.

In Yinchuan, northwest China’s Ningxia, tourists drift across Yuehai Lake in “ice floating” suits, designed with heat-locking inner layers and high-buoyancy exteriors, while drones capture the magical moments. Many visitors describe the activity as “quite stress-relieving”, a perfect winter escape for the weekends.

In northwest China’s Xinjiang, Pingxiliang Village has embraced winter tourism with homestays and snow-themed experiences, while nearby Sayram Lake dazzles visitors with newly created blue ice waterfalls. Sprayed over supports to preserve the natural flow of water, these frozen cascades have quickly become a must-see winter attraction, widely shared on social media.
