Hong Kong’s flag carrier, Cathay Pacific, has spread its wings to China’s far west, launching direct flights to Urumqi starting April 28, 2025. This exciting addition becomes the airline’s 20th mainland China destination, strengthening its network and offering travelers seamless access to this vibrant region.

Operated by spacious Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the route features both business and economy class options. Outbound flights from Hong Kong take off as redeyes every Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1:30 AM, landing in Urumqi by 7:00 AM—perfect for maximizing your day. Return flights depart Urumqi at 10:15 AM, touching down in Hong Kong by 3:20 PM for a smooth afternoon arrival.

Steeped in history as a key Silk Road hub, Urumqi blends rich cultural heritage with stunning natural landscapes, making it a must-visit for explorers. This four-times-weekly service not only cements Hong Kong’s role as a global aviation leader but also bridges travelers to a pivotal Belt and Road hotspot.

By linking these two dynamic cities, Cathay Pacific is paving the way for deeper trade, tourism, and cultural ties—unlocking new opportunities for both Hong Kong and Urumqi.
