Southwest China’s Yibin City in Sichuan Province will shine during the 2026 Spring Festival Gala as one of its sub-venue locations, alongside Harbin, Yiwu, and Hefei. The city will highlight its rich cultural heritage, complementing the main Beijing venue with a diverse regional showcase.
At the heart of Yibin’s appeal is Lizhuang, a 1,400-year-old riverside town that once flourished as a southern Sichuan cultural and commercial hub. Its preserved Ming and Qing dynasty temples, traditional residences, and peaceful waterways provide a scenic backdrop for the gala broadcast.
Since 1983, the Spring Festival Gala has been a cornerstone of Chinese New Year celebrations, presenting music, dance, comedy, opera, and folk performances nationwide. In 2026, viewers will enjoy the festivities on February 16, with Yibin adding a historic and cultural dimension to the annual celebration.
