[GBA Thrills] Nansha: A New Horizon for Micro-Drama
: :

George Ng, Producer

“Nansha is truly a place where the old meets the new, inspiring me to make a time-travel drama. It has such a natural setting. Unlike Hengdian (a mega film studio-city in China), where everything is quick and convenient—I can finish one scene and quickly move to the next—but it lacks that human touch.”

Amidst Nansha’s rich blend of nature, stunning urban landscapes, and history, it was the Nansha Tianhou Palace, a historical temple dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu, that captivated him the most and prompted him to craft a story around it.

George Ng, Producer

“At the beginning, the script for this drama was about a very romantic love story. When the director and I first came here and saw the boats and yachts, we thought it would be a romantic comedy. However, after thinking it over and visiting places like Tianhou Palace, we wondered why we shouldn't make use of these beautiful locations. Instead of wasting them, we decided to create a time-travel drama.”

The diverse charms of Nansha have also captivated the hearts of the actors in the upcoming micro-drama film.

Carman Kwan, Actress

“I didn't expect much when I arrived. I thought there would be nothing much to offer, or it would be similar to the old model of Hengdian (a mega film studio-city in China). However, after coming here, I found it to be really beautiful, with stunning scenery.”

Nansha is also a tax haven, which is why Ng, the producer, moved his filming company from Shanghai to Chuangxiang Bay, Nansha. With attractive tax exemptions and incentives to offer, Nansha stands out as an ideal location to continue his filming venture.
