Shenzhen’s vibrant nightlife is attracting growing numbers of foreign tourists this summer, with dazzling night shows, diverse entertainment and late-night food adding to the city’s appeal.
Theme parks across the Guangdong city have rolled out fireworks, drone displays and other evening performances. Window of the World Shenzhen has welcomed more than 10,000 foreign visitors since summer began, with over 80 percent travelling independently.
The city’s late-night food scene is another draw. Convenient cross-border payment services allow international visitors to order and pay independently, with foreign diners accounting for about 10 percent of customers at some eateries.
According to the Shenzhen Immigration Inspection Bureau, more than 5 million foreigners had entered or exited through Shenzhen ports by August 4 this year. Visa-free travellers accounted for over 1.2 million inbound foreign visitors, up 47.5 percent from a year earlier.
The figures highlight Shenzhen’s growing appeal as a destination for international visitors seeking technology, culture, food and entertainment.
