[GBA Thrills] Smart Inspections Power Nansha’s Fruit Trade Boom

Earlier this month, a freighter carrying fresh durians berthed at Nansha Port, marking the arrival of the facility’s 100th durian shipment of the year. Nansha has now held the title of China’s largest maritime gateway for imported fresh aquatic fruits for six consecutive years.

Given durians’ short shelf life and time-sensitive customs clearance requirements, the Nansha Border Inspection Station and the Nansha Maritime Department conducted aerial surveillance and real-time monitoring of incoming vessels using drone-mounted HD cameras. Meanwhile, customs patrol boats were deployed at key channel points to ensure smooth passage. Upon docking, a joint “single-window inspection” protocol was implemented to eliminate redundant procedures and accelerate processing. As a result, imported fruits can reach the market within two hours while maintaining optimal freshness.

To date, Nansha Port has processed nearly 3,500 containers—equivalent to more than 50,000 tons—of durians through efficient customs clearance. Moving forward, Nansha will continue leveraging its port hub advantages and industrial synergies, improving cold-chain clearance services and promoting high-quality cross-border trade growth through greater openness.
