The Greater Bay Area Conference 2026  — co-organized by China Daily and Hong Kong Coalition — was held in Hong Kong on September 3, 2026, drawing approximately 300 attendees—including government officials, consuls general, chamber heads, business leaders, academics, youth representatives and Asian corporate executives. They engaged in high-level dialogue under the theme "New Landscape for Asia-Pacific Cooperation, New Opportunities for Greater Bay Area Connectivity".

Leung Chun-ying, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Chief Convener of the Hong Kong Coalition, noted that the Greater Bay Area's intra-city synergy has unleashed enormous energy across all sectors. Beyond thriving trade and cultural exchanges, Hong Kong–Guangzhou cross-border medical research and clinical trials have streamlined clinical data mutual recognition and bidirectional commercialization of research outcomes. The newly launched "Guangzhou Pilot for International Cooperation in National Data Fields" in Nansha is set to position the Guangzhou Data Exchange as a global trading hub, benefiting Asia-Pacific economies.

John Lee, Chief Executive of HKSAR, emphasized that the GBA is fast becoming one of the world's most dynamic and integrated economic zones. Hong Kong—anchored in its market-driven, rules-based system—serves as the region's gateway to global markets. Moving forward, Hong Kong will continue to strengthen its role as the "super connector" and "super value-adder" linking the GBA with the rest of the world.
